Outward Bound partners with distinguished nationwide networks of schools and community-based organizations to provide scholarships that empower youth to change their lives, local communities and the world around them.
Outward Bound provides the catalyst wilderness experience that allows students from diverse communities to explore their differences as their greatest strengths. Our national partners return the students to their communities, integrate course learning into students’ lives on a consistent basis and mentor youth to use their knowledge for a greater good.
With programs for individuals and groups, students who participate through national alliances receive full scholarship awards based on need and merit.
National Partners
Expeditionary Learning Schools Outward Bound
Within the nationwide network of 150 K-12 schools, ELS students receive scholarship support to attend wilderness programs for individuals and groups. The community of teachers within these schools reinforce the communication and teamwork skills each student develops on course. The scholarship students are also responsible for conveying course learning among their peers.Outward Bound Urban Centers
Working with students in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, New York City and Philadelphia from low income and culturally diverse communities, Urban Center students are awarded scholarship funding attend wilderness programs across the country. Participants return to their communities with urban center mentoring and support to ensure that the core values learned on course are woven into the fabric of their lives.Summer Search
Providing high school students with the opportunity to participate in summer experiential education programs, intensive mentoring, college counseling, and professional development, Summer Search works with Outward Bound to award scholarships to approximately 200 students annually for wilderness programs.
